Sophie, is living in the orphanage at London. She awakes till night because of reading book. at 3:00 p.m, she saw a giant from the window. this giant captured sophie and kidnapped to the Giant country. Sophie was scared at first. But she gradually noticed that this giant doesn't want to eat her. And then the giant introduce to her his work which is catch "dream".

I was really looking forward to see this because its director, is Steven Spielberg, and composer is John Williams. they are my most honorable creators.

However, I thought I overestimated it. In my opinion, its choreography is predictable, and little bit mediocre.

Music is not catchy it is repetation of John Williams' work. I've listened before in some film which he composed.

CG technique is not completely good. and scenic design is sometimes predictable.

But its story is quite interesting. It has many kind of joke, and it is totally calm. it isn't thrilling like any other Hollywood movies.

I think, Spielberg and John Williams had get old. This calm atmosphere, can't express by young creator. However, it is predictable. Not original.

正直言って、少し期待しすぎてしまった。スピルバーグとジョン・ウィリアムズのコラボだから、外れるわけ無いみたいな先入観は何となくあったかもしれない。彼らも歳を取った。静かな雰囲気で進んでいくストーリーを見ていると、若いディレクターには出来ない表現なのかもしれないとは思うけれども、予期しやすく、ありがちなものであったことは正直言って確かだ。ジョン・ウィリアムズの作曲自体も、今までの繰り返しという雰囲気で心を掴まれるようなフレーズは残念ながら無かった。

あと、ちょっとCGもハリウッド映画にしては拙かった。全体的に予想を一段階下回る出来だったかなという感想。

Finding Neverland

James Paris is scriptwriter in London. He wrote a story "Little Mary", but audiences unsatisfied about the play, and also some newspaper criticised his work.

One day, he went to the park with his dog, then he met the 4 boys and their mother.

James showed them his skill of scriptwriting with his performance, they really interested in his imagination but one boy, Peter, isn't thought something which is like a fantasy. He is realistic. His mother said that Peter changed when his father died.

James began to care about Peter, and change his mind more good thought like a normal child.

This is really sad story for me because totally it described that life is unexpectable things. Every people have a possibility to face wrong opportunity in our own life which is not related to the personality. sometimes it is a kind of destiny.

Totally its visual is good. Especially I like the scenes of James and children's imagination world. Also it depicts a early 20th century's London. We can see a lot of nobles' costume. its work is stunning. 

Brave

Merida, is a princess in Scotland. She really like an archery and ride a horse like a man since she was a child. But her mother, Einer want to do more feminin for her daughter.

Merida and Einer always argued each other, and one day Einer had a quarrel hard with Merida, and Merida broke her tapestry and also Einer burned Merida's archery.

Merida was really angry and disappointed and she went out from her castle and go to the deep in a forest. Then she met wizard and she want to buy magic spells for "Change my mother". Wizard sold a magic and gave her one of cupcake. Wizard said that "If mother eat it, mother will change." Merida trust and obey this word and her intrigue was successfull. but "Change" is not inside, just a look. Einer suddenly changed to Bear.

It is special work of Pixar. Normally Pixar doesn't make this kind of story (Like a "Princess", "Traditional Fairytale" ) . However, it is not good challenge for Pixar. Pixar always tried to make a new type of animation stories. Which are often combined with nowadays society, and children's mind. These style is really unique and fit to recent society.  But unfortunately in point of my view, it is not new, and tasteless. I guess that when we think about the "Fairytale of Princess", vast majority people imagine that "falling love, "Fantastic characters"..like a cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty,

Although "Brave"'s elements is really realistic. Bear, and Horse is just horse, and bear. 

Also, there are no prince and love with men. Actually this story focus on the relationship between mother and daughter. But honestly this type of concept is not fit to the traditional princess story. In my opinion, if we want to explain the Love of family by this style, we need another elements and have to combined with this concept.

I can say same thing for Frozen. These two works has same problem.

Except to this problem, I thought that visual and technique of CG animation is quite high. Absolutely Pixar's technology is higher than nowadays Disney's CG animation.

The Neverending Story

Bastian was bothering about the classmates because they always bullied him.

One day, Bastian found a bookstore. There's orner has a strange book. Orner said that "It was not only fantasy story". Bastian loves fantasy stories so he really want to read that.He took out this book while the orner answering the phone.

He went to an attic at the school, and began to read it.

It is really traditional style of the fantasy. However, its last scene is unusual. It includes the person who read it, and this person helps the "Fantasia".

This film explains that people never forget dreaming something.

I really surprised that this film's technique of doll making. every dolls can move an eyes, eyelids, noses, and mouth. its quite natural motion and so complicated.

Nowadays every films don't make like this because of CG technology. Yet I prefer one. CG looks like realistic, but I thought it isn't lively.

I remind a memory that I read some fantasy books when I was a child by this movie. This feeling is so nostalgic, and I want to remember this ever.

The Exorcist

Actress Chris MacNeil is living at the Georgetown in United States with her daughter, Regan.

Regan was cheerful, and good daughter for Chris. But one day, she was held the party at her home. Then something wrong with her. After that, she gradually went to wrong condition. Chris went to see a mental doctor, but nothing else to find on her body.

Finally the doctors mentioned about the "Exorcism" to Chris. Doctors expected that Some kind of "Evil"is living inside Regan. It sounds so impossible for her, but she began to reject the Damon inside her.

This was so contentious film on 70's United States. Because it has a lot of contents of Christianity, and also its story is about the "Damon". Also, it has a many grotesque scenes which used a technical way. Obviously this films techniques gave a shock to viewers in this age.

I really impressed with the technique of subliminal effect. Totally this film contains a image of Damon's face. It suddenly appeared frequently, but it appears only less than 1seconds like hallucination. But I can remember strongly about these images. This techniques would make hidden, unexpected fear inside the viewer.

I wonder that I couldn't see this film's most popular scene which is Regan down the stairs by backbeng.. I was really looking forward to see that scene in whole time...

Anyway, I thought that this film has a lot of high techniques.

The Danish Girl

Gerda Wegener is married to Einer.

They are an painter. But Gerda couldn't make an individual work.

One day, Einer have to wear the women's wear by Gerda. Because she want the individual model. 

At first, that was just a work. But Einer gradually noticed a new passion in his mind.

ゲルダとアイナーは画家夫婦だった。ゲルダは人物画を書いていたが中々独特な仕事をすることが出来なかった。

ある日、アイナーはゲルダに頼まれて女性の服を着て彼女のモデルになる。

最初はその行為はただの仕事だったが、アイナーは次第に新しい感情が自分の中にあることに気づきはじめる。

Recently a lot of films which focused on the sexual minority. Because United States made a new law of the same gender marriage.

It's really sad story because everybody couldn't understand about Einer at first. Everybody thought "He is crazy". Of course his wife, Gerda thought that too at first. 

Also I surprised that this is true story. It based on Lili Elbe's biography.

I really understood that the early 20th century's sexual minority was suffer from a difficulty oc understanding and a discrimination more than nowadays.

This movie's visual is fascinating. In particular, Einer's look as woman is quite beautiful.

In my opinion, I had sympathy to Einer's mind. I'm standing little bit similar position.

最近は沢山のセクシャルマイノリティについての映画がリリースされている。というのも、アメリカの同性婚法可決に基づいたものだと感じている。

とても悲しいストーリー。最初は誰も彼のことを理解できないという状況があり、勿論彼の妻も理解できなかった。それが私にとってはとても切ないと感じた。

コレがリリーエルベという人の実話だということにも驚いた。

20世紀初頭のセクシャルマイノリティが現代にもまさり如何に差別や理解の難しさに直面していたかがよく分かった。

この映画のビジュアルはとても魅力的だ。特に、私はアイナーの女装姿や仕草は非常に美しいと感じた。

私個人としては、私は少し似たポジションにいるので、アイナーの気持ちにシンパシーを感じた。

Monsters University

This is a story of Mike and Sulley who were Monsters Univesity's student.

Mike wanted to be a "Scarer" monster since he was a child.

But his classmates dislike him because his appearance was small, and obviously he was not "Scary".

He made an effort and enrol the Monster University's scary course. 

Then he met a Sulley. He has essential "scarer" talent because His family is talented scarers.

Sulley and Mike stood at opposite side, But this two guys make some trouble, but also interesting story.

モンスターズインクのサリーとマイクが大学生だった頃のストーリー。

マイクは小さい頃から「怖がらせ屋」になりたいと思っていた。しかし彼の姿は小さく、全く怖くなかったのでクラスメートからは嫌われていた。

彼は努力をしてモンスターズユニバーシティーの恐怖プログラムに入学。

そこでサリーと出会う。彼は本質的な怖がらせ屋としての才能を持っていた。何故なら彼の家族は才能あふれる怖がらせ屋だったからだ。

マイクとサリーは正反対の場所にいた。しかしこの二人が様々なトラブルや物語を巻き起こす。

I watched the "Monsters.inc" when I was 8, or 9. Then I really impressed the story.

Monsters.inc made some trend in Japan.

This another story is quite interesting. But I guess, it's not necessary to make this movie.. Because after that, a monsters make a "laugh" instead of "Scary"in the Monsters.inc's story. That's why sometimes I thought "Is this story necessary?"

But except to the logical theory, It has a good message for young people. It says that a If you don't have a talent, a dream can come true by an effort.

モンスターズインクは私が8~9歳の頃にロードショーで観た。このストーリーには幼いながらに感動した覚えがある。日本の中でも、モンスターズインクはトレンドになったと思う。

この続編はとてもおもしろい。でも意見としては、この映画作る必要あったかなあ？と思ったりもした。なぜならモンスターズインクのストーリーは、「笑い」を「恐怖」の代わりに作り出すことになっていくというのがラスト。だから時々、この恐怖を作ることにフォーカスを置いたこの作品って、重要なの？という疑問はあった。

でもこういう理屈っぽいことを抜きにすれば、この物語は若者に良いメッセージを含んでいる。もし自分が才能や良い体格を持っていなかったとしても、努力で夢をかなえることは出来るという強いメッセージが見える。
